I don’t think I posted an official notice when Modified went live, so here it is! It’s been slowly gaining momentum due to its provocative cover and reasonable price point of .99 cents. 🙂 The cover shown above is the PG-13 variation, so I don’t offend the sensibilities of any YA readers who may be reading this post. If you want to see the actual book cover, or get some more information on it, check out the book page for it:

Blurb:
Kate has enough problems – a boss that’s a little too friendly, a sex life that’s non-existent, and a cat with zero tolerance for late meals. The last thing she needs is to be kidnapped, even if it is by a hot Brit.
Afterwards, she’s mysteriously returned and has no memory of what happened. She learns, with the help of an eccentric sexy woman, that she’s been modified – given a power unique to her talents. Sounds cool, right? It would be if she knew how to use it without killing everyone around her…
Modified is a funny, sexy, geeky romp about the trouble of acquiring an unexpected and inherently evil super power. With offbeat characters, profanity, and a healthy dose of salacious thoughts, it’s an entertaining short read, volume one of a serial type series.

Why I’m writing the Modified Series
I know some of you may be wondering why I’ve ventured into adult paranormal, after focusing on YA initially. The truth is, adult fiction was my first love to read, and it was downright freeing to be able to curse and write about more adult topics, without worrying about unspoken YA restrictions. Is this novelette filled with super powers? Yes. I still love those–it’s so much fun to write about what it would be like to fry someone’s brain with a mere thought. Is this series much darker than the Connected series? Absolutely. I actually got the idea for Modified when I thought about taking the villain’s power from Connected and giving it to the protagonist. I wouldn’t call Kate an anti-hero exactly, but she certainly leans towards it. Are there more installments planned? Yep, one per month, if the talented cover artist Jasper Yu can keep up with that pace. He’s a good two thirds of the way through the cover for Volume 2, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
So what do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the cover art, the series premise, or any other thoughts you have about Modified.
